Proverbs 31:18- "She senses the worth of her work..." (The Message)
Proverbs 31:18- "She tastes and sees that her gain from work [with and for God] is good;..." (AMPC)
We live in a day and age where women can do and be anything they want. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 1967, 49% of women were stay at home mothers. In 1999, only 23% of women were stay at home mothers and by 2012, 29% of women were stay at home mothers. By seeing these statistics, we see that more women are either needing to work outside of the home or wanting to work outside of the home. They are finding their passion and niche in this great big world and that is a beautiful thing. Being a stay at home mother isn't meant for everyone-- and that is perfectly acceptable. Being a work from home mother isn't meant for everyone-- and that is a-okay too. That's the beauty of the day and age we live in, ladies! We get to chase after our dreams, whatever they may be.
The point of Proverbs 31:18 is this: sense the worth of your work in whatever it is you are doing! You are so important. You are vital to this earth. You are important to your family. You are valuable to your job. You are vital to your extra curricular activities. Remember your worth no matter where your feet may walk.
If you thoroughly enjoy working outside of the home, sense your worth on the job. Look at how valuable you are to your company. If you are struggling to enjoy where you work, but you cannot find a new job--- pray that God helps you become passionate about your position or pray that God will open doors so that you can follow what you are passionate about. He cares so much about you! I promise. If you are struggling to enjoy life, He wants to fix that! I read a quote today that said, "I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life." (Maya Angelou) If you are making a living, but you aren't making a life-- pray, pray, pray. Ask God to change your spirit or change your situation.
If you thoroughly enjoy working from home, sense your worth at home. No one else can do your job, Momma. No one else can be the wife your husband needs or the momma your kids need. You were designed for that. I know the days can be stressful and long, but please- I beg you- sense the worth of your work. You are staying home with your tiny humans all day, molding them. They are watching every single thing you do- every word you say. There is so much power behind that. You are with your children 24/7.. and you have every opportunity to share God's goodness with them.. His faithfulness... His love. You have so many chances to teach them how to handle situations, how to pray over angry spirits, how to shake off sadness... Sense your worth at home, SAHM.
If you regularly enjoy extra curricular activities, sense your worth. Realize how valuable you are.and realize how these activities bless you. I consider my hour reading/studying the Wor in the mornings (before the kids wake up lol) my quiet extra curricular activity. It blesses my soul and prepares me for whatever the day may bring. I NEED it. And I realize every morning the worth of this work... and my need for this work. Did you know I was planning on sleeping in this morning? My daughter does not have school and we had a rough night with all 3 kids (like 2-hours of sleep rough! Lol)... I turned off my alarm and thought, "Jesus, rain check! I'm exhausted." But I just can't. As I was laying in bed, all I could think was, "Alyssa, you NEED this time. You WANT this time. This time is SO worth it!" And Jesus encouraged me to get out of bed and read, sing, and pray. I'm so thankful He did. This time with Him sets my soul on track for the rest of the day. I pray that all of you have an activity in your life that can heal your soul too whether it is exercising, walks, yoga, reading, sewing, drawing... something that allows you to breathe and center yourself for a period of time. Realize the worth of this work!
Whatever the path you have taken in this life, realize the worth of your work, ladies. And at the same time-- realize the work of the lady next to you as well. There is so much pressure on women in today's world to fit in a certain mold. But it is perfectly okay for the woman next to you to live a different life. Some women want children, some do not. Some women want to stay at home with their children, some women need to find themselves outside of the home. You may not understand the decisions other women make, but you aren't meant to. It is their journey to take- their passion to follow-- it is their job to realize the worth of their work.... and it is your job to do the same.
Realize your worth, sweetie. Realize how valuable you are to this earth. Realize how important you are. Look at the impact you make on your family, your coworkers, your friends, your surroundings. You are needed. You are loved. Look at the difference you make. If you are struggling to find your passion or chase after it, pray that God opens doors. Pray that He reveals your worth.
God bless all of you today. I pray you see the worth of your work...
